Web Developer (QA & Support)

You will join our client as a Web Developer (QA & Support) in a hybrid role based in Malta. You will balance feature maintenance with quality assurance, ensuring the reliability and performance of modern web applications. You work with Next.js, React, and Node.js to deliver a seamless user experience and spot issues before they reach production.

Responsibilities

• Quality assurance: Execute manual and automated testing for new features in Next.js and React applications.
• Bug resolution: Monitor error logs and user reports, investigate, reproduce, and resolve frontend and backend issues.
• Testing infrastructure: Write and maintain test suites using tools such as Jest or Playwright, and automate repetitive testing where possible.
• Feature maintenance: Implement minor updates and improvements to existing web components and API endpoints, and support ongoing business and product requirements.
• Documentation: Maintain clear testing procedures and technical documentation, and share knowledge effectively across the team.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of professional experience with React, Next.js, and Node.js.
• Good understanding of TypeScript and debugging type-related issues.
• Experience with, or a strong interest in, testing frameworks such as Jest or Playwright.
• Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket and pull request workflows.
• A quality-focused mindset with a passion for delivering reliable code.

Soft skills

• Time management: Highly organised and capable of balancing bug fixes with longer-term testing initiatives.
• Critical thinking: Able to identify potential risks and edge cases before features reach production.
• Attention to detail: Strong eye for spotting inconsistencies in both UI and backend functionality.
• Investigative mindset: Curious and analytical, with a desire to understand root causes rather than applying temporary fixes.
